Serving Creditable Food

Good Morning,
We often have people ask us, what foods can I serve if I join the food program. All of the answers may be found in your Food buying Guide that is provided to you upon enrolling with Right from the Start Nutrition. But also I wanted to post a link to the USDA Nutrition Database website of what is a creditable food item. This is a quick an easy way to explore the USDA's database of creditable items for the CACFP.
Simply click on the link below to be redirected to the website.
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
This site will not only find the items for you, it will also list the serving size. Say I want to know if Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli are creditable. Simply type in Ravioli, press search. The following screen will ask you which brand of Ravioli are you interested in. Click the correct option you will be serving, press the "Submit" button. And there's the information right there in front of you.
I hope todays entry helps your child care center find a healthy option to feeding tomorrows leaders.
